Weddings, albeit wonderful, are incredibly stressful events. You want to make it as easy on yourself as you do for your guests. When you have a lot of out-of-town relatives, you definitely want things to be easy for everyone. Here are a few of the easiest and simplest locations for your wedding and/or wedding reception.
Hotels
Hotels are the best solution for you. Your out-of-town guests have a place to stay, and if they get weary of the festivities, they can go upstairs to relax or freshen up. Your reception is held in the banquet hall downstairs, and there is almost always a discount on a block of rooms when you book your reception in the hall. If you want to make it really easy on your guests, hold your wedding in a grand ballroom of a hotel (if they have one), and then all of your bases are covered.
Campgrounds
If you and your fiance are the rustic, adventurous type, why not hold an outdoor wedding in a posh campground? Your guests may enjoy staying in the cabins or on a campground site (if your wedding is not in winter!), and the park ranger can marry you. Lots of people have done this very thing in Yellowstone or Niagara Falls, and then stayed where they were for the honeymoon after their guests went home. Additionally, your reception can include a massive outdoor barbecue and/or pig roast.
Historical Mansions with English Gardens
There are dozens of historical mansions across the country that cater to bridal couples. You can marry in the gardens or in the grand ballrooms and halls, and then have your reception outside or inside; your choice. This is especially elegant and beautiful when your wedding is in June and the roses in the gardens are in full bloom. The only thing you would have to do then is find lodging for your out-of-town guests, but usually there are plenty of hotels nearby.
At Home
It has been done. If you have a very large home, with a couple of guest bedrooms, you can have a wedding at home. Your yard should be able to accommodate all of the guests you expect to invite, and you will probably need a permit for temporary structures on the lawn, such as the massive tent for a rain or shine wedding. Roll out fold-out tables for the food after the ceremony, and the reception is right there. As for the guest beds, it will be first come, first served.
